wagon burning at dusk

Open a window late at night. Listen to the swirling sky. Listen for a pebble falling deep inside you to strike an unconscious surface. You ever wake up to lightning striking your interior eye lids? You ever wake up to a rush of air climbing a spiral staircase? Do you miss the hands you held as a child? A machete of sunlight through the trees. You can't watch the play of light on the water and not hear music. Haunted houses of childhood won't let you escape. The Air Force is dead under a crisp, blue sky. NASA is dead in the radio silence of sleep. Everyone is going away. The Earth is young again, the first morning after you're dead.
