pattern illness

My face is greyed out in isolation codes. Look what the afternoon has done to these bottles! And look what this existence has done to my life.

One day I'll open the newspaper and discover the crossword puzzle has been published without any clues. One might think that it would be much easier if I could fill in all those white boxes with my own words, my own language. But it won't be easier. Because there won't even be any white boxes. The whole thing will be one big dark square--a crossword blackout.

Sometimes nightfall arrives long before the sun goes down.
